Gemma qualified as a lawyer in Queensland, obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1993 and a Master of Laws in 1997.
Prior to undertaking her law degree, Gemma completed her General Registered Nursing training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and then went on to complete her Bachelor of Nursing at Queensland University of Technology. Gemma worked in a number of Queensland public and private hospitals, specialising in Intensive Care.
Since moving to Perth in 1998, Gemma has practiced exclusively in the area of defendant based insurance litigation, with a primary focus in medical treatment liability claims. She founded Panetta McGrath Lawyers with Enore in 2009.
She acts for a number of medical defence organisations and public and private hospitals, representing the members and staff of such organisations in court proceedings, investigations and coronial inquests. Gemma also acts for a number of vocational regulators and has a strong knowledge of administrative law matters.
Gemma is a member of the Law Society of WA and Women Lawyers of WA.
Gemma was recognised in the 2015 Doyle’s Guide as one of Perth's leading medical negligence lawyers (Defendant).
