Emma is an Associate within our Health Law team.
Emma is experienced in advising and representing medical and health practitioners and health-related entities (including medical defence organisations, insurers, hospitals and health services) on a wide spectrum of legal issues.
Emma specifically advises in relation to:
- all aspects of medical negligence claims;
- internal AHPRA investigations (performance, conduct and health impairments);
- formal vocational disciplinary proceedings in the State Administrative Tribunal; and
- Medicare compliance and eligibility (Practitioner Review Program and Professional Services Review).
Emma also has experience advising and representing clients in relation to criminal issues arising from their professional duties (e.g. boundary violations, drug possession, and data breaches).
Having worked in this area since 2013, Emma has a solid working knowledge of the relevant disciplinary and civil standards and a deep appreciation of the major impact these types of matters can have on individuals and entities. Emma is committed to providing practical advice and support to guide clients and assist their matters to be dealt with as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Emma was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2016 and holds a Bachelor of Law (Distinction) from The University of Western Australia. Emma is a Legal Member of the Human Research and Ethics Committee at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
