WA HACC Transition to Commonwealth

by | Feb 14, 2017 | Aged Care Blog

From 1 July 2018 the Commonwealth Government will assume full funding, policy and operational responsibility for Western Australian Home and Community Care (HACC) services and specialist disability services for older people.

A new arrangement for home and community care and specialist disability services will come into effect from 1 July 2018, with the Commonwealth Government assuming full funding, policy and operational responsibility for these services, bringing Western Australia into line with services provided in other states.

At present, the existing Western Australian HACC Programs are jointly funded Commonwealth-state programs and will continue to be administered by the state government until the new arrangements are in place.

From 2019 support to clients will continue under the new Commonwealth Continuity of Service (CoS) program. If a service provider chooses not to become a CoS service provider, the Commonwealth Government will put in place suitable arrangements with another service provider to ensure that clients continue to receive the support they need.
