Bethan is a Senior Associate in our Criminal Defence team and has experience representing clients in both criminal and restraining order matters. Bethan represents clients charged with a range of criminal offences, from simple and traffic offences in the Magistrates Court, to serious assaults, sexual assaults, illicit drug offences, and property offences in the District Court.

Bethan has experience in conducting a range of hearings in the Magistrates Court including trials, sentencing hearings and bail applications. Bethan also has experience in appearing as counsel in jury trials, indictable sentencings, bail applications and contested legal arguments in the District Court.

Bethan commenced her career as a criminal lawyer as a State Prosecutor at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for close to 8 years. She then transitioned into criminal defence in a private law firm and later the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia.

Bethan has an intimate knowledge of the criminal justice process, criminal procedure and the policy and public interest considerations that underpin criminal prosecutions in this State. In addition to appearing as counsel in a number of jury trials, Bethan has also appeared as junior counsel alongside experienced lead counsel in complex drug and homicide matters in the District and Supreme Courts.

Bethan understands the importance of being heard throughout the criminal justice process and takes pride in using her extensive advocacy experience to give her clients a voice.

Bethan was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2016 and is a member of The Law Society of Western Australia.
