WorkSafe has released important updated guidance material for any Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU) involved in High Risk Construction Work.

The updated Information Sheet complements the Code of Practice: Construction Work and provides very useful guidance to PCBU’s on the function, content and application of SWMS, including outlining information around:

  • the common High Risk activities for which a SWMS is required before work commences;
  • who is responsible for preparing a SWMS;
  • the role of the ‘principal contractor’;
  • what information must be included in a SWMS; and
  • recommended steps for developing and using a SWMS.

The Information Sheet also provides a helpful template SWMS that can be adapted to your business (Appendix 2).

The Information Sheet is available at https://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/sites/default/files/atoms/files/231293_br_swms-highrisk.pdf.
